Bio

Prof. Abdelbary served as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University 2022 -2024 and as acting vice president for Community service and environmental development affairs Cairo University 2024-2025. During her tenure, she achieved remarkable milestones, including elevating the Faculty to 64th globally in the 2024 QS Ranking for Pharmacy and Pharmacology, establishing the Centre of Translational Research and Biosafety research center, securing ISO 21001:2018 accreditation, and securing International-Accreditation by ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education) for the PharmD program. Under her leadership, the Faculty strengthened partnerships with international institutions and the Egyptian healthcare institutions. Her international experience is extensive and distinguished. She served as Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, ALECSO, and ICESCO from December 2018 to April 2022, representing Egypt on Executive board and leading international collaborative projects in education, science, and culture. Prior to this, she was Cultural and Scientific Attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Paris, France (2014-2018), where she was one of the early members of the Maison d’Egypte at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris and created networks between Egyptian and French scientists. Prof. Abdelbary’s research expertise spans pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and innovative drug delivery systems, with particular focus on nanotechnology-based methods and complex- generics. Her scholarly contributions include over 35 publications in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals. Her research impact has earned her inclusion in Stanford University’s list of the “Top 2% of the World’s Scientists” for four consecutive years (2020-2023). She received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Aix-Marseille II University, France in 2004, and her Bachelor’s degree from Cairo University’s Faculty of Pharmacy (1999, with honors). Throughout her career, Prof. Abdelbary has been a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and youth development in science and healthcare, actively mentoring young professionals and creating opportunities for advancement in pharmaceutical sciences.
